This Privacy Policy explains how Veil ("the app," "we") handles your information. Veil is an AI-assisted paranormal investigation app published by Aethel Apps. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
No account required
Veil does not require registration and does not collect names, email addresses, or account credentials. There is no sign-up, and we maintain no user database.
Information processed to provide features
Photos you submit. When you use the Anomaly Scanner or Symbol Decoder with a photo, the image is transmitted securely to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude AI service to generate the analysis. Photos are processed to provide the feature and are not used for advertising.
Text you submit. Dream descriptions, symbols, journal analysis requests, and location queries you choose to enter are transmitted securely to our server and processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate a response.
Case Journal and app data. Your case files, field logs, and preferences are stored locally on your device only. They never leave your device unless you explicitly submit journal content for AI pattern analysis. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them permanently.
Service providers
Anthropic (Claude API) — AI processing of photos and text you submit, routed through our own server so credentials are never present in the app.
Netlify / Cloudflare — application hosting and the server that relays AI requests.
Google Play — app distribution and, if subscriptions are offered, purchase processing. Purchase verification uses Google's own systems; we do not receive your payment details.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
The nature of the evidence
The Bureau notes for the record: Veil is an entertainment and creative-exploration app. AI analyses, case files, entity entries, and location surveys are atmospheric interpretations — not scientific findings, paranormal proof, or factual claims about real people, places, or events. Photos of real people are described neutrally; the app does not identify individuals. Always respect private property and local law during any investigation.
Data retention and deletion
Because Veil keeps your data on your device, deletion is in your hands: clear the app's data or uninstall it, and your journal and settings are gone. AI requests are processed transiently to generate your result; we do not build profiles from them.
Children
Veil is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Updates to this policy will appear on this page with a revised date above.
